T-Mobile’s Pearl 8120 Arrives Just in the Nick of Spring

T-Mobile subscribers, I am jealous of you today. I knew you would get the Blackberry Pearl 8120 with support for calling over Wi-Fi , but for $149? In addition, LAPTOP resident cell phone master Todd Haselton just posted a full review of the phone, giving it a 3.5 star rating.

The specs round out quite nicely: 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, and SureType keyboard. But for me the real kicker is the unlimited calling over Wi-Fi with T-Mobile’s HotSpot @Home service. Not only can you make unlimited calls for a monthly fee of $9.99, but the call quality over UMA can be superior.

In my opinion, the only hold-up with the Pearl is its keyboard, though BlackBerry has made improvements to the SureType with enhanced word-completion in this model. Customers unsure of the keyboard could always go for the T-Mobile Curve, but that will cost a $100 bucks more (at $249).

Check out our full review of the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and decide for yourself. In the meantime, my envy will carry on—at least until Verizon’s Curve hits shelves.
